Dinosaur World is a chain of outdoor dinosaur theme parks in the US. Their locations include Plant City, Florida; Glen Rose, Texas; and Cave City, Kentucky. The parks feature over 150 life-size dinosaur sculptures created by Christer Svensson. The Florida location opened in November 1998, the Kentucky location five years after, and Texas location followed five years after that.

In each park, life-size dinosaur statues are placed among native vegetation or water features to simulate animals in a wild environment. Plant species that date from the time of the dinosaurs can be found on the grounds and identified with small signs. At a “Fossil Dig”, kids can dig at a sand table for real fossils. A “Dino gem” excavation activity is also offered.

3. DINOLAND

DinoLand
DinoLand

DinoLand U.S.A. is set in the fictional American rural locale of Diggs County and is themed around dinosaurs and other extinct prehistoric life. The area is anchored by the Dino Institute, a palaeontological facility which is home to Dinosaur, a dark thrill ride loosely inspired by the film of the same name, featuring a trip through time to the Late Cretaceous. Just outside the institute is “Dino-Sue”, a casting of a Tyrannosaurus rex fossil that is the most complete yet found.

DinoLand U.S.A. originally started as a small highway town where an amateur fossil-hunter found some dinosaur bones in 1947. After contacting some scientist friends, they gathered their money together to purchase the site. Since then, scientists, volunteers, and grad students have been living there trying to find answers about dinosaurs. The Dino Institute was founded and opened the site as a “fossil discover park”. An old fishing lodge of the property became the Restaurantosaurus. Meanwhile, the Dino Institute and their partners at a research facility called Chrono-Tech discovered how to warp vehicles through time, and thus started doing time tours.

Dinosaur Gardens

Dinosaur Gardens is a tourist attraction in Ossineke, Michigan, United States. Built on a 40-acre (160,000 m2) tract of drained swampland, visitors encounter several dozen home-made sculptures of dinosaurs, prehistoric birds, prehistoric mammals, and cavemen. The attraction was started by folk artist Paul N. Domke in 1935. There is also a gift shop and a dinosaur-themed miniature golf course on the premises.

You will find dinosaurs from multiple periods of time that range from over 200 million years ago to 34 million years ago. Animals are represented from all over the world as well from the US and Canada. We feel everyone who would like to make the ½ mile walk around the property would really appreciate the experience to see the animals for themselves and to imagine what it would have been like to be on earth during the time of the “Dinosaurs”.

The theme of dinosaurs can be used to spark conversions around difficult and complex topics such as time, history, death/extinction, evolution and environmental issues. They teach children that we don’t know everything about our world—humans are still learning and exploring.
