Good behaviors and methods can ensure that our animatronics models have a longer service life, while the opposite will shorten it. Today, we will elaborate on what kind of behaviors will lead to a shorter service life of the models.

Normal animatronic dinosaurs can work 4-5 years (some can work 6-8 years if they are well maintained). Here’s how the wrong behaviors can shorten the animatronic dinosaur life.

QUICK FACTS:

#1. Behaviors that lead to a shortened service life
#2. How to avoid these

(1). Exposing the CPU control box that controls the dinosaur to get much sunshine, could cause it to burn.

(2). The control box is also exposed to rainy days, resulting in excessive water, once the power is turned on, will happen to burn fuse.

(3). Someone tried to block the dinosaur movements in its normal direction (it was swinging left, but someone tried to block it from moving right).

(4). Failure to turn off the power supply to dinosaurs’ control box when the exhibition is to be closed. It causes dinosaurs in operation all the time, which damages the motor carbon brush inside the dinosaur as well as the electromagnetism inside the control box.

(5). Wrong use of voltage device led to sudden excessive current, which burned the electric plate in the control box and the motor inside the dinosaur (the voltage of 220V was suddenly replaced by 110V).

2. How to avoid these bad behaviors

Ways to Lengthen Animatronics Life
Ways to Lengthen Animatronics Life

(1). The first step is to turn off the power supply of the animatronic dinosaur / animal models when they are not functioning. (Simply turn off the power supply on the control box) This can prevent excessive electricity consumption and also allow the motors inside to have sufficient time for rest.

(2). Make full use of the fiberglass rain covers that we have configured. Cover the control box and the audio equipment with the rain cover. This way, it can prevent the equipment from getting wet from the rain and also protect it from the direct sunlight. Electrical appliances can prevent the circuit board from short-circuiting or overheating and burning out.

(3). It is strictly prohibited for the audience or visitors to physically touch the dinosaur or animal models (especially for children). Avoid excessive touching that causes the model to malfunction during operation, as the counterforce could lead to dual damage to the internal motors and electrical components. It can also prevent the artificial damage to the model’s skin.

(4). It is strictly prohibited for the audience or visitors to touch the electrical equipment (control boxes and speakers) beneath the models, to prevent the equipment from being damaged by force and to avoid the risk of electric leakage.

(5). It would be best to set up a sign that reads “Civilized viewing, do not touch”; and beside the electrical appliances, a sign saying “Electric shock hazard, do not touch” can also be placed.

Conclusion

The following 5 bad behaviors may shorten the lifespan of the animatronics models and must be avoided. There are another 5 behaviors that serve as reminders to prevent such situations from occurring. It is essential to ensure that the staff working at the on-site of dinosaur exhibition or dinosaur park go through these 10 points, in order to facilitate better and longer-term operation.
